Description of Duties
This position is an essential member of the leadership team at North Central University, and responsible for the strategic and operational leadership for the Human Resources function at NCU. This responsibility includes the oversight of all Human Resources policies and programs, to include employment, employee relations, labor relations, compensation administration, benefits administration, human resource information systems, organizational development, training and development programs, and compliance, and Title IX oversight compliance. This position is responsible for providing expertise to the leadership team, the director group and all employees.
Responsible for organizational culture initiatives, leading the department’s development and implementation of strategies related to employee engagement, diversity and inclusion, and workplace violence prevention. Acts as a key driver in the creation of healthy workplace initiatives.
Candidates should have experience in the following areas of human resource management:
- Recruitment and talent management;
- Employee relations, coaching, and performance management;
- Conflict resolution;
- HR compliance and policy design; and
- Benefits administration
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
(25%) Recruiting
- Continue to build and improve recruitment processes and partner to ensure operational excellence
- Identify the needs of hiring managers to best support recruitment efforts
- Partner to create and/or update job descriptions and evaluate and manage all related tasks
- Provide recruitment for senior-level and other management and supervisory positions
(20%) Employee Relations
- Serve as the primary point of contact and lead resource for employee relations
- Coach employees, managers, and supervisors to effectively resolve issues
- Create performance improvement plans and follow progressive disciplinary steps for conflict resolution
- Conduct investigations and documentation, as necessary
- Partner to administer annual performance review process
- Conduct development opportunities for employees, managers, and supervisors
(25%) HR Compliance
- Maintain a solid knowledge of employment laws and regulations and ensure compliance with federal and state requirements
- Support HR policies and procedures and provide guidance on policy design
- Partner to administer benefit plans, reports, and claims, as required by law
- Title IX compliance oversight
(20%) General
- Demonstrates an understanding of business operations and systems, processes, departments, and functions to analyze the Company’s organizational design and to provide ongoing direction and best practices for organizing and managing the business
- Create and facilitate employee development programs in coordination with management
- Supervision of Title IX coordinator
- Partner to build and maintain streamlined and scalable HR systems, solutions, and processes
- Serves as a mentor to HR staff and as a visible and knowledgeable HR resource for employees and leaders
- Identify efficiencies and opportunities for improvement and partner to execute
- Provide working knowledge of HRIS platforms and technology
(5%) Risk management
- Administer Worker’s Compensation program
- Administration of safety program
- Assist with negotiation of insurance programs
- Processing of Worker’s Compensation claims
- Various other projects affecting risk management
(5%) Staff development
- Serve on the Staff Development Committee
- Develop and provide staff training modules
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Industrial Relations, or a related field required
- PHR and/or SPHR preferred
- 5 years of HR experience
- 5 years of leadership experience
