Position Purpose

NCU’s Graphic Designer is expected to be a brand manager with an eye for artistic creativity. Their primary responsibility is to create and maintain all enrollment-related print and digital design. They are responsible for the management and organization of files and photos, and must be customer service driven.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

(90%) Graphic design and photo editing

  • Support the university through the creation and production of print and digital
    media, according to NCU branding guidelines as specified in the NCU Style
    Guide
  • Coordinate tasks with the Marketing and Communications teams to manage and
    complete the proofing, editing, and approval process for design projects, in
    association with other departments on campus
  • Provide unique and appealing design for various events or special purposes
    (Examples include visit days, fundraising events, and the NCU Magazine.)
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director of Marketing and Communications to
    plan, edit, and design the annual NCU Magazine
  • Capture photos around campus and at various NCU events (Preferred skill)

(10%) Operations and vendor communication

  • Package files, approve proofs, and manage communications with outside print
    vendors
  • Coordinate design needs and share resources with other team members
  • Maintain current and accessible file organization

Job Qualifications

Minimum Education and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or equivalent program

Knowledge, skills, and abilities

Required

  • Self-motivated individual capable of working independently and
  • Fluency with Adobe Creative Suite; proficiency required in Photoshop, Indesign, Illustrator, and Lightroom
  • Pre-press experience; the ability to take a job from creation to completion
  • Strong attention to detail when planning and executing projects
  • Ability to work independently with strong prioritization and time management skills
  • Knowledge of design concepts, layout, and theory
  • Working knowledge of printing and press functions, including ink, color, and paper
  • Must be able to take criticism or critique based on the nature of producing the
    creative work

Preferred

  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrates interest and/or ability to work with digital photography
  • Willingness to investigate and learn new technologies
  • Experience working within higher education
  •  Illustration experience, on paper and/or digital

WORKING CONDITIONS AND FREQUENCY

Environmental Conditions

  • Exposure to repetitive motion of the fingers, hands and wrists on a daily basis; sitting or standing at desk 100% of workday
  • Work is performed in a Christ-centered urban environment

Equipment and Tools

  • iMac, Creative Cloud software, Microsoft Office suites, project management software,
    and printer/copier
