Position Purpose

The Housing and Accommodations Coordinator is responsible for leading all aspects of student housing and meal plan enrollments and oversight of housing, dietary and support animal student accommodation requests. This position works closely with the Dean of Students, Resident Directors and the One-Stop to make sure student housing and meal plan billings are correct.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Managing the housing application and placement process, as well as student meal plans for all students by:

  • Serving on the Housing committee and participating in the design of housing structures for school year and summer student residents.
  • Developing and updating timelines and forms for housing processes.
  • Informing students of processes through meetings and distribution of materials.
  • Leading the placement decision making process.
  • Managing all off-campus housing petitions.
  • Overseeing data entry of all housing information.
  • Overseeing key distribution, collection, storage, and records.
  • Overseeing collection and entry of meal plan selections and alterations.
  • Communicating initial meal plan information to food service; updating information daily based on student cancelations and meal plan alterations.
  • Overseeing housing deposit refunds/assessments/forfeitures and notifications to students regarding such actions.
  • Managing files of past housing forms, applications, and other housing-related records.
  • Serving as admin for student development software system.
  • Providing accurate, responsive services to internal and external NCU constituents.

Providing oversight of housing, dietary and support animal accommodations by: 

  • Meeting with prospective or current students seeking to self-disclose a documented disability related to housing, diet or support animal needs.
  • In collaboration with the Dean of Students, reviewing assessment reports and documentation from providers.
  • Coordinating with the Director of Academic Success to determine reasonable accommodation plans.
  • Providing prompt, FERPA-compliant communication with necessary departments regarding student accommodation plans (long-term and short-term).
  • Providing ongoing support to students with disabilities, as needed.
  • Maintaining records and data on accommodations.
  • Designing and conducting faculty/staff education related to accessibility and compliance as needed.
  • Maintaining membership in MN AHEAD

Overseeing and leading summer resident housing and programming by:

  • Serving as summer RD back up and holding the duty phone as scheduled.
  • Supervising and evaluating summer student residence life staff.
  • Participating in conduct process for summer student residents.
  • Participating in crisis intervention as needed.

Other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

Minimum Education and experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Past experience with accommodation services, preferred.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities

  • Demonstrated Christian character and servant leadership.
  • Commitment to University mission and statement of faith.
  • Detail driven with high responsibility.
  • Ability to handle issues of a confidential nature.
  • Research skills needed for gathering information on issues pertaining to disability services.
  • Experience and competence in working with diverse populations.
  • Ability to work in supervisory, collegial, and/or mentoring relationships with others, including staff, faculty, and student leaders.
  • Knowledge of, or ability to learn, student database programs; familiarity with Microsoft products, Salesforce, ERezLife, preferred.
  • Ability to communicate and follow up verbally and in writing to ensure shared understanding of accurate information.
  • Ability to maintain composure and resolve conflicts with students, parents, and staff/faculty professionally and effectively.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects and conflicting priorities to accomplish tasks efficiently and accurately.
  • Ability to work both as a member of a team and independently within a broad strategic framework.
  • Self-motivated, creative, organized, decisive, and enthusiastic.
  • Ability to attend to detail and maintain accurate records.

Working Conditions and Frequency 

Environmental Conditions

  • Position involves repetitive motions of the fingers, hands, and wrists on a daily basis.
  • Working environment involves work in an urban, Christ-centered university.
