Rob Barrett, Jr.

Assistant Professor of Production Arts and Music Business

Rob Barrett is an Emmy and Telly award winning composer and producer with over 20 years experience writing for TV and radio. He has written music for Pepsi, McDonald’s, Marshall Field’s, Target, Best Buy, Sesame Street, Disney, and others. His YouTube cooking show, Cooking for Dads, has been featured on the Today Show, in the New York Times, USA Today, the Guardian, by Barbara Walters, and viewed by millions of people around the world. Rob does 3-4 live cooking segments on local television and radio stations each month. Rob has also been a worship pastor, a volleyball coach, a sculptor, a radio host, a technical director, and a published photographer and poet. His music recording has taken him to many Asian and African countries to help local musicians record and distribute indigenous worship music. He has been a writer for AOL, The Village Voice Inc, and Better Homes and Gardens. Rob and Jan have been married for 25 years and have two daughters, Katie (21) and Ellie (18).

I have worked for over 25 years in the music production business, both on the recorded end and the live production end. From composing news themes for KUSA and KARE to writing commercials for Pepsi and McDonalds to producing live events and leading worship, I strive to always achieve excellence for God’s glory.

I love that I can pour into my students’ lives and pray with them. At other institutions I could be fired for praying with a student. Here, I am expected to.

I enjoy all of my classes as they are different each time. The book of Acts doesn’t change, but the music business and recording software is different each year.
