Accommodations are decided on a case-by-case basis through the interactive process to meet a student’s specific needs. The goal of an accommodation is to provide equal access to an educational program. The following list gives examples of possible accommodations, but is not a complete list:
- Health and Safety: This can include allowing intermittent absences for medical appointments related to pregnancy or recovery, or providing extra or longer breaks during the school day.
- Physical Environment: This can include providing a larger desk, ensuring access to accessible seating in classrooms, or arranging for temporary reserved parking closer to buildings.
- Course Changes: This can include allowing options for remote learning when physically attending class is not possible, providing extensions on assignment or exam due dates, or making changes in the required order of courses in a program.
- Leave: This includes providing medically necessary temporary time off from school (a leave of absence) for reasons related to pregnancy, childbirth, or recovery.
Lactation: This includes providing reasonable break time from class and access to a clean, private, and safe space for expressing milk.
